GOT PERFORMANCE?

How do you know? How would you know?

What is performance? Performance is the act of performing; the carrying into execution or action; execution; achievement; accomplishment; representation by action; as, the performance of an undertaking of a duty or task.

In the business world, tasks are related to work and the worker. The efficiency at which a task is performed affects the operations of a company. Operations are based on the company’s mission and vision. The goal of performance is to achieve the company mission and vision.

Work at the task level is the responsibility of the worker. Workers should have the support of management and should be provided with a working environment where they are enabled to perform to the best of their abilities. Workers should be provided with training and guidance so they understand what is expected of them.

Management should assess performance based on formulated goals and objectives, and encourage improvement in work processes when and where necessary. Performance management encompasses the most important people issues in a company, tying directly to the company’s mission and vision.
