Are they really ready?

That’sPass Baton the question a lot of working professional traditionalists and baby boomers are asking themselves and their retirement- age peers regarding abdicating their management and leadership positions to millennials. Some traditionalists and baby boomers are still in the workforce due to unforeseen economic circumstances (loss of funds due to 401K ‘nest egg’ collapse), now trying to recoup more income towards a decent retirement. While other older workforce personnel don’t feel completely comfortable relinquishing their management and leadership positions over to millennials due to what they feel is lacking – individual initiative, sense of commitment and accountability. Rather they see someone that requires a constant stream of feedback, with mobile device addiction and the demand for collaborative work/life balance woven into their role immediacy road map to quick success.

Millennials will require mentoring to truly bring them into the fold for them to understand their role’s purpose, apply learned theory to real work experience to be successful managers and future leaders.

A company’s culture can still be built around the fundamentals and strong business principles. Providing a sense of purpose and communicating the employees’ role in the big picture is a key factor for job acceptance and personal satisfaction.

It’s not a matter of ‘paying your dues.’ Instead it’s a case for ‘proving yourself’.
